Salute
well they´re selling chunks of heaven at the churches on the corners on TV
beware the scribes nad pharisees, hypocrites, their god isn´t free
or you can get yours at the state stores or the corners on the shitty side of town
you consume it and it consumes you and your paycheck, and there´s heaven all around
most people aren´t sick and needy
most people are thick and greedy
and there´s a flag flying in front of McDonalds which we proudly salute
a flag flying in front of McDonald´s red, yellow, white and blue
well we´re choking down our burgers, grab the remote, flip the channel, when we see the Sally Struthers sad eyes
flies buzzing round the faces on TV
and we are tearing up our bodies with our smoke, meat, drink, and lack of exercise
so we search for cures on animals instead of taking control of our own lives
capitalism is the way that´s what they say, and i must admit it´s true, it´s based on greed, the motivation for everything that Americans do
it will tear out your heart, and blind your eyes and nullify your brain
and your stomach and your genitals will drag you like a puppy on a chain
most people aren´t sick and needy
most people are thick and greedy
and there´s a flag flying in front of McDonalds which we proudly salute
a flag flying in front of McDonald´s red, yellow, white and blue
red, yellow, white and blue
Rock the Boat
where arrogance and ignorace stand boldly hand in hand
no tremors of resistence rock this once insurgent land
with IV´s to the TV we sit idly by and cheer as we interrupt this program with a brand new brand of beer
She ends up in the kitchen finishing the plates bitching our protesters, how they don´t appreciate
the freedom in this country, her husband clears, his throat
"if they really loved America, they wouldn´t rock the boat"
you say our freedom´s founded in our willindness to fight
so why oppose the fight for change by saying it´s not right
the precept of democracy´s to be the people´s rule
if you won´t rule your goverment, they´ll use as their tool
Who are we?
full of love and justice, we hit the streets
they filmed the pretty girls, but wouldn´t talk to me
they made us a joke, on the human interest section
human kind deserves no redemption
life isn´t fair and people don´t care
they want fictitious gods to save them
i stand where i´m neither here nor there
i can´t emancipate them or enslave them
where is the value of Bukowski breath
why must we cheer on an early death?
Darby Christ didn´t die for me but still i stood up on my chair to see
here i stand, bottle in clenched hand
shouting insults in a drunken haze the club hands, pretend to understand
we help them pay the bills these days
who are we?
who are we supposed to be?
we´re faced in a choice
to sing with no voice
or be a product for their industry
there ain´t no way that you ´re ever gonna beat in
there ain´t nobody gonna have their cake and eat it
you´ll either fade into obskurity
or be another bullshit billboard for their industry
and when the society tells me to conform
I´ll say "ain´t i done it all along? you stocked the shelves with your pink fright wigs, i paid in cash and sang along"
